How to obtain your marriage license in San Diego --

Please bring the marriage license with you to your rehearsal--the witnesses will sign their portion.

The unity release is included with your wedding ceremony!

  • Marriage licenses are available at most County offices.
  • You must be 18 or older - if you are younger, you must go through the Juvenile Court system.
  • You do NOT need a blood test.
  • Both parties must be present.
  • Both parties must have a valid photo ID - a birth certificate or passport may expedite the process.
  • There is a $50 fee for the license.
  • If either party has been divorced in 90 days or less, you'll need to present a copy of the final divorce decree.
  • The license is good for 90 days and is effective immediately.
